Execution

Every order type.One dedicated consultant.

Markets move within seconds. Our execution capability is built to match that pace, giving clients access to a comprehensive range of dealing tools, guided by a dedicated consultant who understands when, and when not, to use them.

How we begin

Execution begins with understanding.

The appropriate method of execution depends on more than the market rate.

Timing, cash flow, certainty, flexibility and appetite for risk all influence how a currency requirement should be approached. Before discussing a particular solution, we take the time to understand the underlying transaction and what matters most to the client.

Each decision can then be considered within the context of the wider requirement, rather than treated as an isolated trade.

Our execution capabilities

The detail behind every execution.

The availability and suitability of execution methods, hedging solutions and credit facilities will depend on the client's circumstances and may be subject to eligibility, approval and additional terms. Hedging products may involve financial obligations, collateral requirements and other risks.

  • Spot transactions

Exchange currency at the prevailing rate for an immediate or near term requirement. Spot transactions may be appropriate when the payment value and timing are known and the currency needs to be purchased without delay.

  • Hedging

Manage the risk associated with a known or anticipated currency requirement. A tailored hedging strategy can provide greater certainty over future costs, protect against adverse exchange rate movements or preserve an appropriate degree of flexibility. The approach will depend on the timing and certainty of the exposure, the client's priorities and the solutions available to them.

  • Market orders

Set a target exchange rate at which a transaction will be executed automatically if that level becomes available. Market orders allow clients to respond to movements around the clock without having to monitor the market continuously.

  • OCO orders

Place two linked market orders at different exchange rate levels. If one order is executed, the other is automatically cancelled. This can help define an acceptable range around a currency requirement while allowing the client to target a more favourable rate.

  • Phased execution

Divide a larger currency requirement into a series of smaller transactions. This can reduce reliance on a single exchange rate or moment in the market, while allowing the execution approach to develop as values and payment dates become clearer.

  • Structured solutions

For suitable clients with more complex, uncertain or contingent exposures, structured solutions may provide a tailored balance between protection and flexibility. The terms, risks and possible outcomes are explained clearly before any arrangement is entered into. Availability is subject to the client's circumstances, eligibility and approval.

  • Credit and collateral arrangements

Subject to approval, certain clients may be able to access facilities that reduce the need to fund the full value of a future transaction at the outset. Credit limits, collateral requirements and the circumstances in which additional funds may be required will depend on the facility and the client's circumstances.

  • Electronic execution

Clients who prefer to transact independently can access electronic execution, supported by the same infrastructure and personal service. A dedicated consultant remains available when a requirement becomes more complex or the client would value a second perspective.

Deciding the appropriate solutions.

Access to a wide range of solutions does not mean every solution is appropriate for every transaction.

Our role is to explain the available approaches clearly, including their limitations and risks, so that each client can make an informed decision. Sometimes that means acting immediately. In other circumstances, it may mean creating greater certainty, executing in stages or retaining flexibility until more information becomes available.

The approach is shaped around the requirement, not around a preferred product.

Personal service, established infrastructure

One relationship across every requirement.

Every client has a dedicated point of contact who remains familiar with the transaction, the relevant deadlines and the wider objective.

Behind that relationship sits access to established payment and execution providers, institutional infrastructure and liquidity across major and less commonly traded currencies.

This combination allows K2 FX to provide the attentiveness of a specialist firm with the execution capability required for significant and complex transactions.

A client's needs may develop over time. By maintaining a consistent relationship, we build an understanding of how each client operates. This allows future requirements to be handled with greater continuity, context and efficiency.
